Kingfisher Airlines to fight pilots

NEW DELHI: With a pilots' strike interrupting programs Kingfisher Airlines flight, its chairman, Vijay Mallya, on Thursday, called the protest as "harmful" and warned agitators could quit if they felt that their action was justified.

He also assured that the airline is "re-capitalize if the government changes the current policy of FDI or not.

In an open letter to employees, the third in as many months, Mallya said: "If some of his colleagues believe that I will be under pressure due to flight cancellations, are wrong. Instead, I'll let my support as few are effectively holding the entire company to the rescue.

If some of our colleagues feel that their actions are justified and I know best, you can opt out of our company. But these threats and harmful actions are not acceptable. The actions of a few can negatively affect us all. "

The letter came a day when at least 16 flights from Kingfisher, 10 in Mumbai and six of Delhi, were canceled due to strike. About 30 flights were canceled Wednesday. The airline plans to announce its quarterly results soon.

Appealing to the employees to "understand the extreme difficulty I will keep our airline flying to the highest standards of safety," Mallya said he was writing checks to various vendors on a daily basis, "regardless of the input of income" .

"We have continuing problems with tax authorities bank accounts frozen. As if that were not bad enough, some of our colleagues are ensuring, by their actions, that our earnings prospects fall further due to shaky consumer confidence and load factors of the poor.
