Calcutta: A four-member inquiry committee has been formed to examine the claim that a class of five students from the school Patha Bhavan Visva-Bharati was forced to drink their urine as punishment for wetting the bed, university official said Sunday.
We received a complaint from a student of Class 5 residential Patha Bhavan was allegedly made to drink his urine as a punishment. A committee of four fact-finding headed by former dean of student welfare, Aruna Mukherjee has been established to investigate the matter and submit its report to the vice chancellor of the university,said a university spokesman told IANS.
The incident occurred on Saturday night, when the director of Hostel Karabi, Uma Poddar, while on an inspection found guilty Punita bedwetting. Then allegedly made the girl drink his urine as a punishment.
After the girl told her mother about the test, their parents and others broke into the premises of the hostel and Poddar allegedly abused.The girl's mother has also filed a complaint against Poddar at the police station Bolpur Birbhum district, about 160 km from state capital Kolkata.The National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has taken cognizance of the matter and has sought a report from the university.
