Electric wire kills a boy on Birthday Event.

NEW DELHI: But for a high voltage cable and heavy rain, 10 years old Prashant would have celebrated its eleventh birthday on Saturday. Instead, his family took him home, complaining of his journey from Agra to the capital for a family wedding that took the life of his son.

The incident shook Sadar Bazar in the north of New Delhi, as a happy family becoming one of mourning in minutes. Around 18:00, Prashant, along with their cousins, ran to his uncle's house on the market so they can return to Agra in time to celebrate his birthday. Prashant was pronounced dead at Bara Hindu Rao Hospital and the medical certificate stated the cause of death as electric shock.Local residents said the electricity department was at fault as several wires hanging complaints have gone unheeded. Hemraj also told police that the absolute apathy had killed his cousin.

BSES officials refused to comment on the charges, saying they were investigating the matter. "We are gathering details about the incident and are investigating as to what exactly happened," said an official.

The rains have claimed another life too. Ram Charan, 38, died in Deepali Chowk in west Delhi on Friday after contact with a live wire hanging from a pole. The incident took place around 18:30 in heavy pre-monsoon showers. Ram Charan, was returning home when his head made ​​contact with the wire hanging. The premises was taken to hospital after Sanjay Gandhi, he collapsed, but it was too late.
